             abstract = "The city of S{\~a}o Jos{\'e} dos Campos, located in the of 
                         S{\~a}o Paulo, it was , and it continues being, marked by na 
                         intense industrialization, which started to commnd the growth of 
                         the municipal district after the decade of 50. The intensification 
                         of the industrial growth process, in the decade of 70, caused many 
                         spatial transformatios. In this sense, this research detected and 
                         evaluated the changes happened to the urban space of the city of 
                         S{\~a}o Jos{\'e} dos Campos, defining the main growth axes , 
                         between 1977 and 1997, period of great urban growth of the city, 
                         using remote sensing data and techniques, as subsidy to the urban 
                         planning. It has also been elaborated a comparison and analysis of 
                         the potential use for urban aple delimitation of the remote 
                         sensing data.",
